A Personal Passion: Letters Between Parents
by Jim Wright, President & Founder of Birthmothers®
My passion to help women facing crisis pregnancies stems directly
from what my wife and I experienced when we began the adoption
process in 1990. We chose private adoption. Our son, A.J. Wright,
was born on July 30, 1991, to a fourteen-year-old high school
freshman. Here's a glimpse of our story:
Dear Charlotte,
Your letter gave
us great joy to know that, in your heart, placing A.J. for
adoption was the right thing to do and in his best interest.
I have enclosed brochures for Birthmothers®, an
organization I founded about five years ago to help women
who find themselves facing an unplanned pregnancy. You and
other women who Tami and I met while trying to find the
right birth mom showed that it takes a lot of courage and
support to choose to give life to a child õ and even more
assistance if adoption is being sought.
Shortly after A.J.'s birth, you wrote to us about helping
a girlfriend choose adoption. Your personal assistance to
this woman sums up our aim at Birthmothers® very well.
Tami and I love you for helping us have a child.
Love, Jim

Jim,
I just want to
say thank you. You have done so much by giving A.J. a loving
family.
I visited the website for Birthmothers. It is GREAT.
Young girls who come from a family like mine need the love
and support of friends and Jesus. They need to be shown
Christ is real and that nothing is impossible with faith.
I needed my family's support — but it wasn't there. I'm
glad that you created a place for women like me. I am
willing to help in any way to show others there is hope.
The Lord brought us together and I am honored to have
found you. I could have given A.J. love and support, but not
the family he deserves. I do not for one moment regret
anything. I see in the words of your letter that I have
brought you happiness and it keeps me going.
I look forward to the day when I can see you guys again.
I'd love to see you now, but I feel like A.J. is still too
young. The last thing I want to do is confuse or upset him
in any way.
I could not have found better people to have adopted him.
Thank you again for everything you have done.
Always, Charlotte
